Meet our New Coaches!!

Dave DeNure & Carrol DeNure Join the Va Juniors Coaching Staff

We are excited to announce Dave & Carrol as the newest members of the Va Juniors coaching staff. Dave and Carrol will coach our U14 team for the 2015-2016 season.  Both of them add so much to the depth and talent of our coaching staff.  Please take a moment to look over their bios and join us in welcoming them to the Va Juniors family!!

Carrol has coached volleyball for 13 years, most of which has been at Flint Hill School in Oakton, VA.  As the school’s first Varsity level coach, Carrol quickly helped build the program into one of the best in the state.  Her players have gone on to play at such colleges and universities as University of Virginia, North Carolina State University, Johns Hopkins University, Rutgers University, University of San Diego, Christopher Newport University, and The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.  She has coached three Washington Post All-Met Players of the Year, two Virginia State Gatorade Players of the Year, and five VISAA Division I Players of the Year.  Carrol has also been involved with coaching club volleyball where her teams won Regionals in 2008 and 2011.

Growing up in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Carrol was a three sport athlete (Volleyball, Basketball, Cross Country) and was selected Most Athletic her senior year of high school.  She was also Co-Valedictorian of her graduating class.

 

Carrol graduated Magna Cum Laude from Freed Hardeman University in 1991 with a B.S. degree in Teaching Mathematics.  She is currently married to Dave DeNure and they live in Chantilly, VA.  They have four children: Jesse, who plays football at The College of William & Mary; Gracie, a freshman at Virginia Tech; Dan, a freshman at James Madison University; and Lexi, a sophomore at Roxbury High School in New Jersey.

 

 

Dave has played and coached volleyball for over 30 years at various levels.

He is a member of the East Stroudsburg University Athletic Hall of Fame for his accomplishments as a player and is also a member of the New Jersey Institute of Technology Athletic Hall of Fame for his accomplishments as a college coach. For the past 15 years Dave has been a Girls High School coach in Northern New Jersey. He was also the Club Director and Head Coach for the Cut Shot Volleyball Club in Bergen County, New Jersey during that time.  Dave’s coaching experience also includes stints at the collegiate level with the men and women’s volleyball programs at East Stroudsburg University and NJIT.

 

He has appeared and worked at more than 100 camps and clinics, which includes being a member of the Camp staff at the University of North Carolina for the past 25 years.

 

At East Stroudsburg University Dave was a 3 time All-East Player, team MVP and team captain.

Upon graduation Dave played in the USA Men’s National Volleyball Team program playing in the National Sports Festival, the World University Games and with the US National Team.

 

Dave played for many years on one of the top USVBA teams in the country, Sun East. In 1988 he was the MVP of the Caribbean Invitational where his team took first place. Dave also played beach volleyball for 15 years, playing on several professional tours. He competed against several beach legends such as Karch Kiraly, Sinjin Smith, and Randy Stokolos.

 

Dave is currently coaching Flint Hill School Varsity Volleyball alongside his wife, Carrol.
